Helen Louise Diaz's Obituary
Helen L. Diaz, April 25, 1934 - September 30, 2021. Helen was born in Los Angeles California and moved to San Diego when she was three years old.
Helen attended Emerson Elementary, Memorial Jr. High School and San Diego High School where she was involved in many activities and clubs. Her passion was her being a Drill Team Sergeanet.
While she was in High School she married Francisco “Frankie” Diaz in her junior year prior to him being deployed to Germany during the Korean War, being married for 58 years.
Helen worked in retail for many years, starting with Learners in Downtown San Diego, Marstons Downtown, The Broadway in downtown and Fashion Valley. In 1986 she retired from The Broadway to take care of her two grandsons and worked and volunteered at Maryland Ave School in La Mesa with her grandsons, and to travel with her husband.
Helen became very active with her church Del Cerro Baptist in La Mesa, singing in the choir and Christmas Tree Choir every Christmas in Balboa Park. Later in her life she attended Meridian Baptist Church in El Cajon.
Helen is preceded by her husband Frank Diaz, and is survived by her son and daughter in law Jesus Diaz and Maria Diaz, Patrick Diaz and wife Laci Diaz grandson, Jesus Diaz Jr. grandson, two great grandsons Francisco “Frankie” Diaz, Elias Diaz. She is also survived by her sister Beatrice Hunter and nephew Joseph Hunter. Helen also has many friends and extended family throughout the United States.
