Helen Margaret Musil's Obituary
Helen Margaret Musil of San Diego went peacefully home to Jesus on January 25, 2024 at age 102! She was born on Oct. 9, 1921 in Clarkson, Nebraska to parents who emigrated from Czechoslovakia. In 1943, she married her beloved, Alden Musil, also of Czech heritage. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Helen was involved in a variety of activities. She was a marvelous homemaker and a skilled seamstress. She devoted her life to her husband and family by making their home a place of love and warmth where friends and family were always welcome. Helen and Al enjoyed neighborhood gatherings, bowling, playing games (mostly Pinochle), and traveling to several countries throughout the world. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years as she and Al were founding members in 1952. They were both volunteer workers at their church. Helen was a member of session, a deacon who helped with weddings, coffee service following worship, and a member of the Prayer Chain. In the community they volunteered at a daycare center for those with Alzheimer’s. Helen, for many years, worked as an elections’ precinct clerk. With family members, they enjoyed traveling and taking many trips to Nebraska to visit relatives.
Helen & Al were married for 66 years! Their 3 children are: Donna (James) Gilchrist of Lincoln, CA; Carol Ruemping (Dale) of Spokane, WA; and Robert Musil (Jacquelyn) of Cardiff, CA. There are 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with another one on the way!
