Helen Louise Osbun's Obituary
Helen Louise Osbun, of San Diego, California passed away peacefully Monday January 4th, 2016 at age 98. Born in Dayton, Ohio, November 12, 1917 she was raised during the Depression, when the need to work took precedence over the development of natural talent. Helen’s first career began with United Airlines and provided her with the opportunity to absorb a good deal of culture and see much of life during her extensive world travels. Eventually, the emergence of Helen’s true spirit took hold as she went through a personal renaissance after early retirement from the airlines in 1973. Training at prestigious art schools and with renowned artists became her focus as she developed her second career. Art and personal expression became dominate forces in her life. According to Helen, her paintings came from within. “My painting is emotional,” she said. “Art keeps me alive.” Helen lived a long, interesting and colorful life. Although her brother and two sisters are gone, “Auntie Helen” is survived by 9 nieces and nephews and their extended families in California, Colorado and Wyoming. Those left to cherish her memory also include several longtime devoted friends.
