Heriberto Torres' Obituary
The Legacy of Our Beloved Heriberto Torres Heriberto Torres, affectionately known as Chito by his loved ones, was born to Salvador Torres and Alejandrina Lechuga on March 16, 1916 in National City, California. When Heriberto was 3 1/2 years old, he and his brother moved to Mexico and were both raised there for 25 years with their father. In 1944, Heriberto decided he wanted to return to San Diego and move in with his mother and was reunited with his siblings. Heriberto got a job at Arden Farms Company, which was a dairy located on K Street, and worked there for 30 years. Heriberto was going to be drafted for the War but got a 4 F on his medical exam due to being hard of hearing. Heriberto would visit his brother Jesus in Tijuana frequently. During one of those visits, destiny placed in front of him Consuelo Jauregui, whom he had already met as a teenager. Heriberto began dating Consuelo who lived with her father, mother and sister. Whenever Heriberto would take Consuelo on dates, her sisters would always chaperone. After three years of dating Consuelo, Heriberto came to the conclusion that she would be the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. On October 29, 1947, Heriberto and Consuelo got married in the Guadalupe Church in Tijuana. Their love for each other was evident to everyone that encountered them. They had two children, Herbert Anthony (Tony) and Guadalupe Rita (Pita), that they raised in San Diego, California. Heriberto was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, godfather and friend to many. Heriberto is survived by his two children Tony and Pita; daughter-in-law Imelda; grandchildren Ana, Consuelo, Monica and Juan; great granddaughter Genesis as well as many nieces and nephews. He is now reunited with his parents, siblings, as well as the love of his life, his ‘Viejita’. May their love be as strong and unique in the Kingdom of Heaven as it was clearly present on Earth. May we remember the jokester, always with his peace sign for the laughter and love that he brought us. Chito, we love you and will mourn you. We will visit and bring you and Chita flowers. We will always be grateful for all the love you gave us.
