Irene L. Hazlett's Obituary
San Diego native, Irene L. Hazlett, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Thursday, February 20, 2020. Irene was born February 1, 1935, in San Diego, California, the daughter of Nick and Margaret Wylie. She was a 1952 Graduate of San Diego High School.
Irene was an Insurance Secretary for approximately 60 years. She was also a Homemaker who loved to cook and entertain. Irene was an avid Bowler since 1961 and a member of the San Diego Women’s Bowling Association, USBC, San Diego 200, 500 & 600 Clubs. Throughout the years, she traveled with her various bowling teams to many State and National Tournaments. She also enjoyed camping, horseshoes, and sports ~ especially following the Chargers and the Padres. Irene was a member of the Zeta Psi Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Sorority since June 5, 1964. She was a Charter Member and held many Chapter and Council positions.
Irene was married 56 years to Ed, who preceded her in death, in 2009. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Irene is survived by her daughter Sherill (Dave) Kelsen; daughter Sue Hazlett; son Steve (Shinano) Hazlett; grandsons Chad (Jill) Fassler, Curt (Rita) Fassler; Manai Hazlett; Jacob (Yvonne) Kelsen, great-grandchildren Bailey, Cordell, Cruz, Luke and Dane Fassler, Jack Kelsen.
