Dear Orapin, Joel, & Jerry: Jack was like a second father to me and a character like no other. He was one of few grown men I could hug and be alright about it. I couldn't help but smile whenever I saw him and in anticipation of what he was going to say. Always happy to see me with his piercing intensity and graveness or poking me mischievously with his cane and sense of humor. Always making sure I was more than well fed with his buttery mashed potato concoctions. Always making sure I was leaving for home with more than I came with! Always at your swim meets and water polo games by your mom's side. Always wanting the best for you both and centering his attention on looking after your individual successes. He was a strong, rough, tumbling rock that came from the mountains and fought his way to the sea by his own way. Always a fighter. He tumbled everywhere, had seen it all, and came to rest on the beach content in his journey. At Joel's wedding I saw his focussed eyes flickering with the fire of pride for you both. As he spoke that evening I saw a loving husband and how happy and proud he was of his sons. It was a satisfying moment reflecting on all the years past. I hold a place of respect for his memory inside me and I will miss him.
To the wonderful Aldrich family. In memory of a strong, wise, and indominatable spirit. We are all fortunate to have known Jack. My deepest wish for your comfort and peace at this time.
