I do not have memory of when I first met Jack. This is because I was a newborn at the time: the Glandons were our neighbors in Imperial Beach during the late '50s, and they came to visit when I was born at Mercy Hospital. Dad and Jack were close friends for many many years. They were always working together on a car-related project, or one was helping the other with a repair or project of some sort. We have fond memories from our younger days, of many picnics to San Diego Bay or the beach, to spend the day together out on the water on the Glandons' boat. We had many get-togethers at the Glandons' house, or they came to Dad's house, for get-togethers. Jean and Lil were very close as well. In the mid '70s, Lil, her mother Julia, daughter Peggy, and Jean all took a trip to Czechoslovakia to visit family (Julia's ancestry was in that part of the world). I remember that it seemed that Jack was always doing some sort of fixing or improvement project to help other people. I remember that he painted a car of mine back in the early '80s, and we still have our dining room table that he re-finished many years ago. I admired Jack and wished I were more like him. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. -Rick Hahn
