Jacobo O. Martinez's Obituary
Jacobo was born on May 10, 1930 at his parents home in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico. He was the son of Miguel Martinez and Benita Ontiveros. Jacobo grew up in El Cerrito, Zacatecas. Jacobo was raised with five siblings. He had five brothers, Manuel, Miguel, Rolsalio, Jesus and Cirilo. Jacobo was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. On the 28th of December 1952, Jacobo exchanged wedding vows with Gabriela Cejas Acevedo at Iglesia de la Soledad of Sombrerete, Zacatecas. Empathic and loyal, Jacobo was committed to making his new family happy. Jacobo worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Jacobo was blessed with ten children, five sons, Jose Manuel, Gerardo, Jorge, Juan Jose, Guillermo and five daughters, Maria de la Luz, Socorro, Jovita, Imelda and Ana Gabriela. Another blessing for Jacobo was the gift of twenty grandchildren, Claudia, Adrian, Eduardo, Gerardo, Cecilia, Jesica, Nancy, Melissa, Jose Manuel, Elizabeth, Jesus, Kimberly, Alonso, Alejandra, Clarisa, Aolanis, Luis, Evely, Daniel and Gael, Laila, Noemi, Alejandra, Brian, Briana, Natalia, Christian, Jorge Eleazar and Chris Angel and his great grandchildren. Fortunately, Jacobo enjoyed what he did for a living. His primary occupation was in Agriculture. He was employed for 45 years. Jacobo enjoyed visting his family in the cities of Mexico. When Jacobo’s retirement finally arrived in 1991, he was well prepared. In retirement, he found new pleasure in caring for his beloved grandchildren. Jacobo passed away on January 7, 2010 at Paradise Hospital in San Diego, California. Jacobo fought a brave battle against Alzeheimers. He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Services were held at Greenwood Garden Chapel. Jacobo was laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California. Simply stated, Jacobo was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jacobo leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Jacobo O. Martinez.
