Jacquetta Kathryn McKibbin's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacquetta (Jacque) McKibbin of El Cajon California. Jacque was born in Yates Center Kansas. She lived in Topeka Kansas, Santa Fe New Mexico, and in 2020 became a Californian. Jacque passed away peacefully in her home on May 12th, 2025 at the age of 88. Jacque was a loving mother, cherished wife, and devoted friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will forever be remembered.
Jacque McKibbin was a devoted mother to two children, Eric Kimbrough and Angela Kimbrough Espinoza (Saul Espinoza). Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was a dedicated volunteer in her church, children’s schools, and throughout the Topeka and Santa Fe communities in her adult life. Jacque was known for her warm smile that could light up the darkest room, she was always spreading joy through her beautiful smile.
Jacque graduated from Topeka High and then from Washburn University in Topeka Kansas in Education. She was an elementary school teacher, after graduating Washburn University.
Professionally, Jacque McKibbin (Kimbrough) worked in the 1990s as a United States Senator Representative for Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum (Baker). She loved working for the Senator, she spoke often and fondly of her time there. Jacque was a passionate reader and thoroughly enjoyed spending time painting for years. Jacque’s daughter and son-in-law proudly showcase her works in their home.
Jacque is survived by her children Eric Kimbrough, Topeka Kansas and Angela Kimbrough Espinoza (Saul Espinoza), El Cajon California, and countless other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Lawrence McKibbin, her first husband Lanny Kimbrough, and her parents, Foley and Kathryn Alvis.
A celebration of Jacque McKibbin’s life will be held on June 13th at 10:00am at Greenwood Memorial in the Sally Lynn Chapel, 4300 Imperial Ave. San Diego, CA 92113. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washburn University, School of Business in Jacquetta McKibbin's name.
