JAMES M. HARDIN's Obituary
James Milton Hardin, age 84, (Jim) died at Kaiser Hospital in San Diego, California, on Monday, May 7, 2012. The cause of death was due to a heart attack. Jim was born August 23,1927, in Covington, Kentucky to Alice Teague and Captain David Winchester Hardin. In his youth he enjoyed many exciting exploits of being an identical triplet, often switching identities with his brothers to fool teachers, neighbors, and friends. Jim served in the Navy until 1948 and then attended San Diego State University, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. In 1954, he married Joan Clair Conover. They had two children, Kimberly (Kim) and Debra. Jim was employed with San Diego Gas & Electric Company for 33 years and retired in June of 1992, where he served as the manager of the employee store and as a Commercial Industrial Rep. He also taught adult education with the San Diego School District. Jim was a member of the Optimist Club and served as the President in 1986. He was an avid golfer, traveler, and enjoyed reading. Jim was a devout Christian and attended Del Cerro Baptist Church, where he performed with the Joy Makers, as well as, in the Christmas Story Tree for Christmas on the Prado in Balboa Park. Gregarious, faithful, always optimistic, Jim never met a stranger. People were always drawn to his warm and caring, effervescent personality.Jim was preceded in death by his sister Marian Alice Hardin and his brother Robert Winchester Hardin. He is survived by his wife Joan, his daughters Kimberly Wiseman and Debra (Patrick) Webb, his grandchildren James Wiseman, David Wiseman and Stephany Webb, and his brother Charles Hardin. Services will be held at Del Cerro Baptist Church on May 20, 2012, at 3:00 in the afternoon. Interment ceremonies will be held on May 22nd,at 9:30 AM at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of: James M.
