James Patrick Murray, Jr. (Pat)James Patrick Murray, Jr (Pat), 82, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2015 at home in San Diego, CA. Pat was born on October 27, 1932 in El Dorado, Kansas to James and Naomi Murray. Pat grew up in Oil Hill and El Dorado, Kansas where he graduated from El Dorado High School in 1950. Pat married Phyllis Jean DeLano, his childhood sweetheart in 1951 in El Dorado, Kansas. They were happily married for 63 years. After an honorable discharge from the US Navy, Pat attended and graduated from Wichita State University. After many years in industry, Pat began building apartment complexes in San Diego, CA and this became his life long career.Pat was a member of Patmos Lodge Number 97 in El Dorado, a member of the San Diego Scottish Rite Bodies, and President of the Clairemont Lions Club. Pat was a coach of Point Loma Pop Warner Football, a Coach and Manager of Loma Portal Little League where he was instrumental in the expansion of the baseball facilities. Pat became a member of the San Diego Yacht Club in 1974. He enjoyed boating on the Paterack, cruising, traveling and visiting with his family.Pat is survived by his wife Phyllis, children Jim (Judy), Ron (Bernadette) and Dena (Kurt). His grandchildren Neil (Michelle), Jeff (Chelsea), Rachel, TJ (Melanie), Lilly, Breanne, Grant, Kylie, Maggie and Chance, and his great-grandchildren Daniella, Ryan and Jase, his sister Joan Van Horn and nieces and nephews. A service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Avenue San Diego, CA 92113 on Friday January 9th, 2015 at 2:00pm.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Scripps Foundation, in care of Dr. Melissa Houser Parkinson’s Research Program at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines, MS313, 10666 N.
