Rev James Milton Sisson passed peacefully on 2/5/2022 after a visit from his brothers, Mark Sisson, Phil Sisson and Phil's wife, Lena Sisson, who had just finished offering Baha'i prayers with him. The Guru Gita was playing softly in the background.
On September 25, 1946 George Upton Sisson and Mary Emma Burgette Sisson welcomed James Milton Sisson into this world. Geroge and Emma had six children, all boys. Gaylloyd was the first born & relished the idea of being a big brother, James was both a younger brother and a Big brother to 4 younger siblings to come Michael, Philipe, Charles and Mark. This large family would come to build a legacy of love, joy & kindness with everyone they met.
The Sisson family flourished in Sunny Southern San Diego California. James graduated from Lincoln High school and attended California State University, Los Angeles with a BA in Political Science and obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Marymount University School of Law in 1976. While in college he pledged to the brotherhood of Kappa Alpha Psi & would rise to the position of Vice President of his chapter at Cal State Los Angeles.
While law was his first profession, magical synchronicity and the hand of God have followed him always. He continued his pursuit of spirit and received his Masters degree of Consciousness at the Homes Institute Seminary. He dedicated many years to the Agape International Spiritual Choir under the direction of Dr. Rickie Byars Beckwith. He offered service to Agape International Spiritual Center and many centers of spiritual living including Guidance church of Religious Science, where he would become a practitioner & an active member of both institutions for many years. He took great pleasure and pride in being one of the members of feeling tones; an all-male group of performers who sang at Agape to the delight of many. As a spiritual, charismatic family man he also thrilled friends with his singing, jokes, and playful spirit. He practiced Siddha-yoga, meditation, and often quoted Khalil Gibran, the author of The Prophet. He also practiced Siddha yoga meditation, received shaktipat diksha, loved to meditate and immerse himself in the Play of Consciousness by Baba Muktananda. He was a great spiritual seeker and loved to recite Khalil Gibran, the Prophet and Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
James was not just a dreamer, he made things happen. There were no ideas that were too big and no dreams unreachable. He faced every challenge with fervor and relished each victory. He realized his goals and lived a life that most people can only dream of. James was an inspiration to his family and friends alike.
We are so grateful to God for the life of James Milton Sisson.
Mahalo Te Atua'i'o Talani.
Aloha i'a o'koa Pa'a Pono!
"When we meet in love...we shall be whole!!!"
"That's a wonderfully fine yacht that has just dropped anchor behind us.
She's illuminated, too. Have you seen her?"
"Some millionaire's toy,"-said Mr. Harland
"Surely she's very large for a sailing vessel?" I queried.
"The largest I've ever seen, "-he replied--"
But how did she sail?" That's what I want to know!"
"But sails must have wind, and there hasn't been a capful all the afternoon or evening.
Yet she came in with crowded canvas full out as if there was a regular sou'wester,
and found her anchorage as easy as you please.
All in a minute, too. If there was a wind it wasn't a wind belonging to this world!
"There wasn't a breath," declared Derrick--firmly---"Not enough to blow a baby's curl."
"Then how did she get here?" asked Dr. Brayle.
"I said just now if there was a wind it wasn't a wind belonging to this world.---"
