James L. Wimberly's Obituary
James Louis Wimberly was born on April 8th, 1928 in San Diego, California. He was the 4th of 5 children, born to his parents Calep and Ida Wimberly. As a child, James attended school at Encanto Elementary. He began ranching on his parents’ farm at a very early age. James later married the love of his life, Ms. Wanda Woodland, on August 13th, 1951. They settled and lived in Santee, California for many years. James worked primarily in the Construction industry as a Heavy Equipment Operator and retired in 1976. After retirement, he continued working as a Caretaker of private property in the Cuyamaca Mountains. He was a strong man, known to split 10 – 20 cords of wood per year. James was a loving, genuine, and honest guy who loved being married to his wife, and being the father of his beautiful children. Some would call him stubborn, but he was great at mentoring and teaching others. He also loved fishing, hunting for deer, and camping. He would tell great stories around the campfire.James passed away 10 days after his 89th birthday. He was predeceased by: Wanda L. Wimberly (wife), Richard Hewitt (son), Nancy L. Wimberly (daughter), and James A. Wimberly (youngest son). James is survived by his sister, Beatrice Tuner; his daughter, Katherine LeDuc; his grandchildren, Mike Jones, Shane Jones, James Wimberly, Kenneth Hanson, Justin Hanson, and Cierra LeDuc; his great-grandchildren, James Jones, Sarah Jones, Christina Jones, Michael Morgan, Jennifer Wimberly, Sharon Wimberly, Lhandon Hanson, Emreigh Hanson, Layton Hanson, and Baby Hanson.The family will be having a Viewing on Friday, May 5th, 2017, from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM at Greenwood’s main mortuary building, in the Holmes-Kipling Room, located at 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, California 92113. Then there will be a Graveside Service following the Viewing in the Oakdale section of Greenwood Memorial Park.
