Jannie Waters' Obituary
Jannie Lee Waters, was born to the late Emanuel Franklin and Fennie Ragland on February 14th, 1933 in Jonesboro, Louisiana. She was one of two children born to this union. She received her formal education in the Jonesboro Community School District. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Brown Grove Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Louisiana. She later united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C. Johnson in San Diego, California.Jannie met and married Ples Lee on December 29, 1952. To this union one daughter was born, Janis Yvonne. Jannie and her daughter relocated to San Diego, California. She later met the love of her life, Tucker Waters. They were later joined in Holy Matrimony July 8, 1962 in Winterhaven, California. To this union two daughters were born; Teresa Michelle and Kimberly Rene.Jannie was employed by Pacific Bell/AT&T until retirement. One of her favorite hobbies was waking up early Saturday mornings and going to the swap meet searching for bargains. She loved playing cards and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, she mostly enjoyed talking to her sister on a daily basis. She always supported the activities of her children. She opened up her home to all her children’s friend’s. She was a mother to many and aways ready to lend an ear to those in need. She loved spending quality time with her family and we will forever be thankful for the time we had with her.On Tuesday, October 16, 2018 Jannie Waters was blessed with 85 years of God’s Grace, earned her wings, and went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family.She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Janis Lee, Teresa Vorise and Kimberly Waters all of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, André Fuller, of Sacramento, California, Steven Vorise II, Michael Vorise, Jamarr Fuller and Kesha Fuller; three great grandchildren, Jay’Denn Perez, Ari’onna Johnson and Jah’Le Johnson all of San Diego, California; sister Theresa Johnson (James) of San Diego, California; sister-in-law Morlene Anderson (John) of Sacramento, California; brother-in-laws, John Waters Sr. and Henry Waters of Saline, Louisiana; a special cousin Colette Morris; three special ladies whom she loved as her daughters, Sharon Toson, Noreen Johnson and Phyliss Smith all of San Diego, California and a host of relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 in Greenwood’s Salli Lynn Chapel from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The service will take place on Friday, October 26th, 2018 at the Macedonia Baptist Church at 11:00 am with the graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Park, to follow.
