Jean E Wesson's Obituary
On Monday, February 6th around 2:30 a.m. Jean made her transition from this earthly place to her eternal rest with her Heavenly Father, Jean Elizabeth Wesson was the youngest of six children born to Edgar and Ochie Green Wesson in Roland, Arkansas. Jean left Arkansas at an early age with her family to San Diego, California. She attended Memorial Middle School and graduated from San Diego High in 1955. Jean attended San Diego State University where she graduated and received her degree in Music.
Jean accepted Christ at an early age at the Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. S. M. Lockridge. She played for Sunday School and became the organist of the church. Jean is known for her gift of making the organ talk during a worship service. Jean joined the Greater Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. R. L. Edwards where she served faithfully.
Jean was a private piano teacher, taught at San Diego City College, Mesa College and ECC. Jean was the first African American to teach at Christian Heritage College.
Jean is survived by her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a great-great nephew, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ochie Green Wesson, two brothers, Hermon and Leon Wesson: three sisters, Evelyn Harris, Charlene Liggins, Gloria Combs, her niece and nephew Don Harris, Kern Carson and Laurie Combs,
