Jeffie Bell Rogers' Obituary
Revelations 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there will be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Jeffie Bell Rogers was born on August 28, 1927, to the late Walter Bishop and Rainey (Oatis)
Bishop in Pinola, Mississippi. She was the youngest of nine children (six sisters and four
brothers). On September 5, 1946, Jeffie married Willie Lee Rogers Sr. To this union, six
children were born – four sons and two daughters.
In 1953, the family relocated to San Diego, California. They united with Good Faith Missionary
Baptist Church. Jeffie was very active in the lives of her children. Education was very
important to Jeffie and she was very involved with her children’s education including attending
school board meetings. She was also active in the lives of her grandchildren, as she also assisted
in rearing them.
Throughout her adult life, Jeffie continued to serve the Lord and worshipped at Cosmopolitan
Church of Deliverance (the late Bishop Frank P. Matthews), Miracle Tabernacle Pentecost
Church (Apostle Dewayne Christmas) and True Light Church of God in Christ (COGIC) (the
late Elder Bedell Sanders). In her later years, Jeffie was a faithful member of New Beginnings Cathedral
COGIC (the late Bishop Johnnie L. McCaleb).
On August 31, 2022, the Lord called Jeffie home to eternal rest. She leaves behind to cherish her
memory children: daughter Dorothy Rogers, sons Arthur and Larry Rogers, and daughter Janice
Rogers-Archie (Russell Archie); six grandchildren – Keith Rogers, Alicia Rogers (Daron
Larkin); Cynthia Rogers, Phillip Rogers (Shekita); Michelle Shorter (Vernon) and Rachel
Rogers; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister Erma Rogers of
Mississippi and hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her church family. Her husband Willie
Lee Rogers Sr., three sons L.D. Rogers, Willie Lee Rogers Jr., and Jimmy Rogers, five sisters
and three brothers preceded her in death.
