Jeffrey David Blackwood's Obituary
Jeff was born in Columbia City, Indiana to Darwin & Dorothy Blackwood on November 11th, 1956. He grew up in Staten Island, New York with his family. He attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana while staying with and aiding his paternal grandmother. After college, he came back East and lived with his brother Laurence in New Jersey. His life path took him back to New York City, Florida and Indiana.In 2001 he relocated to San Diego for a job. He was in the grocery industry for over 20 years and most recently a Service Operations Manager for Vons/Albertson until his passing. He recently was awarded a Retail Management Certificate after receiving a scholarship from Von’s Albertson through the WAFC program.Jeff met his wife Kim on an online dating site and they were married in 2002. He was an strong advocate for Kim’s Son Anthony as he navagated into adult life, assisting with his care & education until Anthony’s passing in 2011. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and together they vacationed in Hawaii, Disney, Alaska and various other places, most recently a Cruise from New York City to Quebec for the Fall Colors.Jeff is survived by his wife Kim, brother Roger and his wife Kathy, brother Laurence and his wife Christine and nieces Lydia and Elizabeth.
