Mrs. Jennifer Van Leuven of Chula Vista, Calif., passed into glory this Wed., Sept. 14, 2016, at 10:15 a.m., while surrounded by her husband and children. She was 38 years old, and had endured two-and-a-half years of Stage IV colo Read Obituary
Today, we had the burial of our beloved sister in Christ, Jennifer Marie Van Leuven, whose motto was: "Praise God and Live". She will be greatly missed by all of us at Puritan Evangelical Church of America and we will continue praying for her beloved children and husband. We love you and miss you dear beautiful sister.
Jennifer was a blessing to me and the other families in her Chula Vista homeschool community. We will always cherish her servanthood and friendship as she ministered within our group. Her love and dedication to God, Grant, and her children were a testimony and example to us all. Jenn's gentle spirit and peace were evidence of her faith and trust in God for His provisions throughout her life. The first time we met was when the Van Leuven's came to San Diego. It was for Pastor Grant to candidate for the pastorate. Linda and I came and picked them up on the day after their arrival. It was our privilege to chauffeur them all over town, showing them the beautiful sights. One of the things that make me smile even now as I think upon Jennifer, was her incredible contagious laugh. You couldn't be in the same room with her when she would laugh, without laughing yourself. Jennifer was such an example of bravery and perseverance to all of us through her 2 1/2 years of sickness. Upon visiting her in the hospital one time, I asked her if I could read the Word of God and pray for her. While at the time she was very weak, her immediate response was, "YES, please do!" Linda and I along with Elder Malcolm and Irma Maxwell were also at her bedside on the night before her passing into Heaven to forever be with the Lord Jesus Christ. Jennifer loved her family and church family so very, very much. Her passing is most surely our loss, but her gain, 2Cor.5:8. We will all miss her greatly. We continue to pray for Pastor Grant, Rachel, Olivia, Abraham, Isaac and all of the surviving family. Love, Elder Ron, Linda and Grandma Renner.
I will always remember when Grant and Jennifer came to our church for visits. It was always such a blessing. Berean PCA in Ellwood City, PA has been praying for you all these past two years and even now will continue to be faithful in prayer. Grant, I will always remember your song for her, "She leaves a light on for me". And that will always be true as the light of Christ was so evident in her life and love for you and your family. What a beautiful person, Mrs. Van Leuven was. I am very sorry to read of your loss. With her accomplishments, her love and joys, she was an amazing woman! I won't pretend to know what you're going through, but what has helped me deal with the loss of those I love, is turning to the Scriptures, something that has been a real source of comfort. One Scripture that gives me hope is, John 11:25, which says, " Jesus said to her: ?I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." I hope that this verse will also comfort you and, I hope you and your family can get through this difficult time. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your beloved wife, mother and friend. Dear Grant, Rachel, Olivia, Abraham and Isaac, We are so very sorry and sad about Jenn's passing. Her beautiful smile and gentle caring way will be missed so much. I will never forget how she was there for me when Aubrey was sick. She calmly called for help when I was falling apart. Like a true mother she knew exactly what to do. I am forever grateful and glad that she was there in my time of need. May God wrap His arms around you all while you grieve, and offer you many tender mercies as you find your way. I am so heartbroken to hear this. My four kids got to send her four kids a little present and Jennifer sent the kindest note back and we had never even met. May she be dancing again with our Savior.
