Mr. Jerry Henry Hunt's Obituary
Mr. Jerry Henry Hunt, 65, of El Cajon, California, was born October 2, 1954 in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Robert Lee Sr. and Ossie Mae Holloway Hunt. Jerry departed this life peacefully on December 20, 2019, at his residence surrounded by family and loved ones.
From age 9 to 27, he resided with his elder sister Estella and her husband Nathaniel of Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Greenville County Public Schools and graduated from Eastside High school in 1974. Prior to attending Eastside he attended Beck High school and League Junior High where he was known for his drumming ability and as an accomplished athlete. He attended Montreat College in Black Mountain, North Carolina on a basketball scholarship. Jerry joined the United States Navy in 1981, and was stationed in San Diego, California where he remained until his passing.
Jerry is preceded in death by two sisters, Cathy Sue and Baby Girl Hunt, also two brothers Clyde and Charles Hunt, and brother-in law John Garrett.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Terese Watson; two grandchildren Xavier Mfikwa and Imani Mfikwa all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two brothers, Robert Lee (Shirley) Hunt Jr. and Elijah Odell (Lizzie Mae) Hunt; five sisters, Laura Estella (Nathaniel) Starks of Greenville, South Carolina, Peggy Lee (Dennis) Johnson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Ellen Mims and Helen Garrett of Greenville, South Carolina; sister-cousin Adelle (James) Ryan of Greenville, South Carolina; his companion Delores Dickerson and her daughter Olivia Dickerson who they raised together; a lifetime brother John Hall; ex-wife and trusted friend Sharyl Hunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving extended family, Walmart work family of 23 years, and friends.
