Jessie grew up in Lancaster, Texas where she left at the age of 17 to pursue work in San Diego, California. Years later she married the love of her life Billy W. Espy on October 12th 1946. To that union they had two sons, Rapheal and Jeffery, and one daughter, Lois. She was a happy, devoted wife, mother and sister who enjoyed caring for her family and spending time with her in-laws. As her children grew, she began to work for San Diego State University, where she retired after 20 years. She was a devoted Christian and member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She was very active in several different church ministries including the Deborah Circle, Altar Guild and a Deaconess. One of her favorite pastimes was cooking, and baking pies; she even established herself as one of the best peach cobbler pie makers in the church. Jessie was always the life of the party and made everyone laugh with her jokes, along with her giving everyone in the room a funny nickname. Jessie departed this life leaving a legacy of love and special memories for all of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy W.
