Jessie Lee Clark's Obituary
Jessie Lee (Thomas) Clark was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 06, 1932, and was an only child. Jessie spent her developmental life in Memphis where she received her formal education. Shortly after she graduated high school, she met Arbie Clark, Sr. (Preceded in Death/August 1993) on Thanksgiving Day and married him 1-year later on August 21, 1950. Jessie became a proud military wife after marrying Arbie Clark which led her from Memphis, TN to San Diego, CA., from that union they had six beautiful children in which two preceded her in death: Arbie Clark, Jr., and Veronica Lynn Clark.Jessie was a hardworking and a devoted mother, to stay connected to her children she worked at their elementary school, Harley E. Knox. Not only was she a positive influence for her children, but she was an inspiration for other children and staff members as well. Everywhere she went she exemplified the presence of Christ in her walk.Jessie loved the union of family and friends, and apart from raising her own children, she mothered others as well, and was affectionately referred to as Aunt Jessie or Mama Clark.Jessie was led and accepted Christ at a young age over 65-years ago. She joined Mt. Erie Baptist Church in San Diego, CA., and later became an active member of St. Stephen’s Church of God in Christ in San Diego, CA. Jessie loved the Word of God and encouraged others by her Godly lifestyle and words of wisdom. She was a giving and charitable person by supporting various Christian and outreach organizations. She would volunteer with the Missions Department at St. Stephen’s Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop George D. McKinney. She was always willing to help those who were less fortunate and to assist those who were willing to work toward bettering themselves. Her door was always open, and many will remember nurturing talks at her kitchen table. There was never a time that you could not enter her home to be greeted with a warm smile, embracing hug, and a plate of nourishment.God decided to call his lovely daughter back home to reunite with Him on January 10, 2019. In Preparation for her journey she wanted to let you all know that she loves you so very much. Though she has not apprehended everything during her 86-years on this earth, she demonstrated how we should honor God, love and be kind to one another. Although she has departed from this place, she has left pearls of wisdom in each one of us. So, if you look and listen closely, you will not only see but hear her words and wisdom at work.Jessie leaves to celebrate her remaining family: Patricia Ann Clark-Thrower, Jerome Clark (Tanitta), Bernard Clark (Angela), Melanie Jean Clark;11-Grandchildren, Monique and Tyrone White, Aaron and Allen Clark, Earl Lamont Ellis, III, Jeanine Clark, Ebony Peralta, Sherome Clark-Brown, Salinathan Thomas and Jesse Thomas (Preceded in Death), Javon Simmons.16-Great Grandchildren, Da’Monique, Jabari, Tysean, Terrione, Taraji, Kumari, Noah, Jesse, Gavin, Shalamar, Shareice, Jaremiah, Cayden, Marlee, Jay’Vion, Vion’Jay, and a host of adopted family and friends.
