Joan Wilkey's Obituary
On September 29, 2022, Joann Wilkey passed from this life into eternity in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 87. She was born on June 10, 1935 in Rulo, Nebraska. She moved to San Diego, California with her family at the age of 17. A few years later she went on to meet her future husband, Mark Wilkey, and had four children, Debbie, Tami, Shawn and Shannon whom she loved beyond measure. Joann is also survived by 7 grandchildren and she also enjoyed relationships with her great grandchildren as well. She was a devout Christian and trusted God’s promises to her until the very end of her life. She was faithful in teaching the Christian faith to her children and grandchildren and lived her life according to these principals. Her beautiful spirit was characterized by sacrificial love, strength and devotion to God and her family. She leaves a legacy of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and self control. Joann was our loving Mother, our rock, and a faithful and trusted friend as we grew older. She was uncompromising in her faith and in her love for her children. We are comforted by warm memories that will help us endure her loss and make us stronger. Every birthday, Christmas season, and every accomplishment, no matter how small, were important to her. She endured the troubles of life with strength and dignity. We are thankful to God for her life… for her delicious apple dumplings, for choosing her to be our Mother. Although we are grieving her loss we are also rejoicing with her as she hears those long awaited words from Jesus, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”
We will love you always and forever, Mom.
