Coyote Moon
Johanna was my dear friend in our twenties when we lived around the corner from each other in Golden Hill, her in Rainbow Manor and me at Thunderbay Collective. As City College students, we spent many mornings careening down B St hill in her old blue VW van with the femur gear shifter gritting our teeth and hoping the brakes worked if we needed them! We did breakthrough events at City College Womens Union blacking out the student union bldg windows and teaching women how to use a speculum! We did the early Gay Pride events where people wore bags over their heads to be anonymous. We didn't. Years later, after we'd experienced some life, she rented an upstairs apartment at her house that we thought she was silly to buy for $40k in Golden Hill. I always called her Joanie. See ya soon Joanie. We love you!
