John Dominick Alessio's Obituary
With sadness we mourn the passing of John Dominick Alessio. John passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. John Alessio was born in San Diego, California, February 20,1969 to Dominic (Bud) and Katherine Alessio. He attended Valhalla High School and later on the University of San Diego, where he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1991 and a Juris Doctor in 1994.
John was an attorney for 30 years, earning multiple accolades and awards by the legal and business community. He was currently in his third term as Managing Partner at the San Diego law firm of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves and Savitch LLP.
As a young man in high school, John began working at family operated businesses and learned the ethics of hard work, accountability, responsibility, respect and gratitude with which he lived in his daily life.
While serving the community he was involved in Smart Border Coalition, as Director, World Design Capital, San Diego-Tijuana, PEERS, Entrepreneurs Organization, Red Autismo and other organizations.
John had great love for Baja California and Mexico which was instilled from an early age from his father and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, surfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
John is survived by his wife Sofia Alessio, daughters Paulina Alessio, a sophomore at University and Andrea Alessio, a senior in High School. He is also preceded in death by his father, Dominic (Bud) Alessio, and survived by his mother, Kay Alessio, sisters and their spouses Dominique and Steve Nielander, Elise and Roger Norman, Ashley and Edward Muncey.
