I always remember my uncle Johnny for his thick, beautiful, slicked-back hair and his impeccable sense of style. He was a sharp dresser, always looking dapper, whether it was at family gatherings or just casual get-togethers. Uncle Johnny had a way of lighting up the room, especially when he hit the dance floor. I can still picture him dancing all night at parties, his laughter infectious and his energy unmatched.
My nickname was Yoly, and he had a playful habit of calling me Early. I would correct him with a smile, insisting, “It’s Yoly, not Early!” But he would just chuckle and reply, “That’s what I said, Early! Do you wake up Early?” His teasing was always filled with love.
As my dad’s baby brother, Uncle Johnny and my father shared a bond that was truly special. Their relationship was filled with laughter, mischief, and a deep understanding of each other. They would often tease and joke with everyone around them, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere wherever they went. I know Uncle Johnny took my dad’s passing very hard; the loss was heavy for both of him and it was clear how much they meant to each other.
My mother, sister, and brothers had the chance to visit him before he passed. During those moments, even as he faced his own struggles, he managed to keep his great sense of humor alive. His witty comments and infectious laughter reminded us all of the joy he brought into our lives.
We will miss you, Uncle Johnny, and the wonderful generation that is slowly disappearing from our lives. Your spirit, laughter, and love will always be cherished in our hearts. May you rest in peace, knowing that you have left behind a legacy of joy and memories
