After the birth of their daughter, Linda, in 1952, the small family emigrated to Toronto, Canada where they welcomed their son, Scott, in 1954. Securing employment at Teledyne Ryan in 1957, they moved again – this time to San Diego where their daughter, Carol, was born in 1958.John was a man of energy and curiosity and was never happier than when he was engaged in his latest hobby or interest. Over the years he had enthusiasms for cooking, photography, raising birds, gardening and his longest lasting passion, raising and showing prize winning Koi. He was also a small businessman and, in addition to his primary employment, he owned fast food restaurants and a Christmas tree farm. He was a member of many gardening clubs and the Budgie, Iris and Koi Societies. What was most important to him, however, was his family.
