John Hollis Williams' Obituary
John Hollis Williams passed away peacefully at home with family. He lived a good long life of 99 years. Although born in Tennessee, John Hollis considered himself an Okie. He grew up in a small town Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He often spoke of milking cows before school, and getting paid little to pick cotton. He later met Thelma Mae Costiloe, the love of his life and wife of nearly 60 years. They had four kids: three girls and a boy.John Hollis proudly served in the United States Army during WWII in Germany. Serving was his greatest honor. In his lifetime he drove a truck hauling iron, worked as a copper miner and then as a welder in Arizona. When he moved to San Diego he joined the union, and worked on several major projects around the county. He owned a restaurant and a nursing home, as well as raised livestock, built homes, and traveled to every state in the continental US, all with his wife Thelma at this side.John Hollis was a kind and blessed man, for through all of his accomplishments he maintained the love and respect of the countless many people he encountered.John Hollis achieved many things in his lifetime through concerted effort, but the one thing that came with ease was the ability to share of himself with loving kindness and cordial grace.John Hollis Williams was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Mae, and daughter Paula Jo King. He is survived by his daughters Joyce Wallace and her husband Dick, daughter Johnnie Marie Nichols and her husband Nick, and son Jimmy Williams and his wife Silvia, and also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92102 on Wednesday, March 23rd 2016. Viewing at 11 a.m. and funeral service at 12 noon. Directions: Hwy 94 to Hwy 805 South, exit West onto Imperial Ave. Greenwood Memorial Park will be on the right.
