Celebrating the Life of Jose Luis Mora Sr.
Born on November 1, 1952 in Los Reyes, Michoacan, Mexico where he lived until the age of 7. He was the 1st born of 3 children from his biological parents. His parents were Elisa Morfin Roman and Leonardo Mora Escalera. He attended his first years of school in Mexico and then later then graduated from Mar Vista High School in the U.S. He earned his High School diploma along with wrestling awards. He began his career as a self contractor as a carpet installer in which he loved very much. He loved his job very much because he loved meeting people and having the freedom to be his own boss. He retired in 2013 after serving about 41 years. After retirement, he was unable to travel or enjoy his retirement due to his illness. He did enjoy much of his last years taking walks at the park with his wife and dog. He lived in San Diego, CA and was married to his one and only Maria Celia Mora on October 18, 1971.One his special friends for over 30 years was Steve Miller. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He loved any activity that was presented for him to join and do no matter how small it was. One of the most memorable things he would say was "Que diosito te cuide" meaning "May God take care of you." Five words to describe Jose are humble, caring, loving, devoted and giving. Most important events in his life were to be there for the birth of all his children and grandchildren to watch them grow into young adults. His favorite past time was to watch anything that was SCIFY such as the Twilight Zone sagas/episodes. Most of all was to go to Disneyland with his children every year. One of his favorite hobbies of all time was to take pictures and have his camera rolling at all times to capture every special moment he could, so he can watch those memories captured later. During family gatherings or any special occasion, everyone knew to wave at the camera because there was Jose with his camcorder. Jose had a thing for music no matter what it was. His favorite music was mostly oldies and old rock and roll. When ever he had a song he loved come out on the radio, he used the dash board of the car as drums and sing to the song that was being played on the radio. Jose was loved by everyone who would come across his way and made everyone feel welcome no matter who it was.
