Jose Manuel Parra's Obituary
José Manuel Parra was born on March 3, 1949 in Ixtlán del Rio, Nayarit, México. His parents were Jose Ramon and Juventina. He was the 4th of 6 children. He attended Chula Vista High School and San Diego City College. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he began his career as an electrician for a shipyard. He retired in 2010 after serving for 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed recreational traveling and having fun. He lived in San Diego and Chula Vista. He was married to Raquel Rocha on January, 1970. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He was involved in a retirement group with NASCO. He served in the U.S Army from 1968 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Sergeant and 2 Bronze Medals. His most important events of his life were his marriage and the birth of his children. His favorite hobbies were working in construction, casino and gardening. His favorite music was Mexican music like the “Laureles”. He was survived by his four children: Jose Manuel, Raquel, Fernando, and Martha.
