Jose L. Reyes Meza's Obituary
Jose L. Reyes Meza was born on December 26th, 1930 in San Miguel Del Cantil, Durango, Mexico to Merced Reyes and Julia Meza. He was the 7th of 11 children. After graduating from high school, Jose began working as a clerk at Hipodromo Agua Caliente. He later worked for many years at a race track in Mexico that was primarily for dog races, and sometimes for horse races. Into his older years he work at Jack Murphy Stadium (aka: Qualcomm Stadium). Jose has lived in Durango, Tijuana, and in San Diego, California. His family is affiliated with the San Felipe Catholic Church.Jose can be described as a good father and brother, who is kind to others. He was a strong man who was meek and humble. He loved spending time at the race track, even when he was not working there. He also loved spending time with his family, especially at the beach or going to movies. Jose was known for reading the paper daily and doing the crossword puzzles. He enjoyed Nortena and Ranchera style music as well.He is survived by his 4 siblings, Maria, Elodia, Concha, and Ricardo; his 7 children, Lilia, Sylvia, Julia, Jose Jr., Lupita, Lola, and Yolanda; his 19 grandchildren; and his many great-grandchildren.
