Jose "Joe" Ruiz Lucero's Obituary
Jose “Joe” Lucero was born on June 11, 1948 in Tijuana, Mexico. He was the 6th child out of 10 children, born to Epigmenio and Lenor Lucero. He moved to San Diego when he was a young boy and attended Montgomery Elementary, Castle Park Junior High, and Castle Park High School. Joe served our country in the U.S. Marines from November of 1969 to October of 1970 during the Vietnam war. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal and received a medal of Good Conduct. Joe married Angie Barajas in 1971 and they had 3 children together. Joe later married Esperanza Cruz in 2003. He was considered a very loving, good-hearted man. He was happy guy, always smiling and making others laugh. Joe truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his birthdays with family members, and celebrating the births and birthdays of his children and grandchildren.Joe was a hard-working servant, and was able to retire in 2009 after working for the Sweetwater Union High School District for 35 years. Joe passed away on January 24, 2016 just before midnight. The hospital confirmed his passing just a few minutes later. He is survived by his wife, Esperanza; children, Monica, Jose Angel, Lorena; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Emilio, Christopher, Carlo, Roman, and Liana. He will be missed by all who knew him.
