Josefina S. Castaneda, age 97 of California, passed away on January 27, 2019 in La Mesa, California. Josefina was born on September 25, 1921 in California to the late Joe Sisto and Angela Arce. She was the youngest of 7 children; Mike, Benny, Charlie, Rosie, Clara and Jesse. Josefina is survived by her loving husband of 77 years Gilbert S. Castaneda Sr.; her three children, Theresa Castaneda, Gilbert Castaneda Jr. (married to Sue Castaneda) and Richard Castaneda. Five Grandchildren; Renee Bareno, Christine Castaneda, Kathleen Bareno-Indalecio (married to Tina Indalecio), Angela Castaneda and Andrea Castaneda; Ten Great Grandchildren; Tirem Bareno-Sosna, Alizarin Bareno-Sosna, Psolde Bareno-Sosna, Samantha Schulman, Juliet Acosta, Xavier Acosta, Michael Bareno-Lee, Maresa Bareno-Lee, Jose Gonzales III and Teiya Beckholt. Josefina was an accomplished home seamstress, and was an avid gardener. She loved dancing, singing and yodeling. As a young woman she worked in the San Diego fish canning industry and during WWII worked as an electrician on the airplanes.The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for a viewing prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am in the Salli Lynn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary with burial to continue in the Garden of Hope of Greenwood Memorial Park.
