Joseph Horacio Nunes' Obituary
Joseph Horacio Nunes passed away in Kokomo Indiana, on the morning of February 1, 2023. Joseph was born May 24, 1951, in the seaside town of Paul do Mar on the Portuguese island of Madeira, to his parents Horacio Marino Nunes and Maria Albertina Nunes. Joseph grew up the second oldest of five children, the eldest boy. He loved chasing his brothers around town and was an industrious child. His father Horacio immigrated to San Diego in 1960, and Joseph came with the rest of his family in January 1963, settling in Point Loma. Joseph continued his industrious nature in the US as he worked in commercial tuna fishing and eventually became Chief Engineer, before an unfortunate accident in Alaska pushed him to open his own plumbing business. Joseph married Martha Rotzler in 1974, and in 1977 had his first child, a son, Joseph Matthew. Joseph married his second wife Karen Patterson in 1982, again in 1991, and had his daughter, Marissa Maxine, in 1984. Joseph loved spending time with his children and family, as well as watching action and Old Western movies. Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Matthew, daughter Marissa Maxine, grandchildren Aria and Andrew, brothers John and Marc, and sisters Ann and Tina. Joseph could fix anything with his hands. He had an unforgettable smile, a truly kind soul and will be missed by his family and friends.
