Joseph C. Orozco's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Joseph Cross Orozco Joseph C. Orozco, 86, long time resident of Chula Vista passed away on September 18, 2018 at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. He was born on September 14, 1932 in Topeka, Kansas to Joseph Orozco Sr and Lucille (Lucia) Cross. He attended Hayden High School in Topeka, Kansas. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Navy where he served four years (1952-56) during the Korean War.After getting out of the Navy he married Ubaldina Bringas on January 20, 1957 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in San Diego. He worked for 41 years at the United States Naval Air Station on North Island and retired in 1989.After retirement, he spent his time taking care of his wife, being part of his daughters and grandchildren’s lives, playing bingo, watching the San Diego Padres and Chargers, Kansas University basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. His hobbies were fishing, playing pool, camping, playing football, basketball and baseball. He loved watching his daughters and grandchildren play their sports and his favorite thing to do was to play the slot machines in Las Vegas or at a local casino.He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, The Most Precious Blood and St Pius Catholic Churches in Chula Vista.He is survived by his three daughters, Dina Olivia Hanau, Debra (Debbie) Lunt and Barbara Orozco-Valdivia (Patrick Valdivia, Sr.); his grandchildren Walter Hanau III (Kristen Michener Hanau), Robert Lunt III, William Hanau, Matthew Hanau, Patrick Valdivia, Jr., Tyler Valdivia; and nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Joseph Orozco’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, San Diego/Imperial Chapter (www.act.alz.org/SanDiego) or the American Cancer Society in San Diego.
