Joseph Lawrence Webster's Obituary
Joseph Lawrence Webster, 73, of Spring Valley, California, sadly passed away on October 27, 2024. He was born on February 25, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Henry and Ruth Webster.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nieces, Tasha Hamlett and Tonya Colbert. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen Colbert, Bernadette Webster, and Iva McGavock (Kevin); nephews, Ty Colbert and Kellen McGavock; and niece Tina Osborne (Dan).
Joseph attended Holy Name Catholic Grade School and went to attend Father Ryan High School, where he graduated in 1970, the last class of all boys. He received his college degree (Bachelor of Science) from Middle Tennessee State University. He then moved to San Diego, California, and started his own business as a computer systems analyst, which was successful for 18 years. Joseph then decided to work for the San Diego International Airport as a systems analyst, which lasted for 14 years until his retirement in 2018.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman. As a child, he got his start with the Boy Scouts and went fishing with his father in their boat. Joseph had been a member of the Sierra Club since 1986 and loved being in nature. Any chance he had, he loaded up his car and went camping, hiking, and exploring at the Nations National Parks. When in his younger years, Joseph enjoyed spelunking (caving). In addition, he enjoyed photography, especially out in the wilderness when camping, to catch a quick picture of a wild animal. In addition to photography, Joseph tried and challenged himself to fix things before running out and buying something new. This skill was taught by his father.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Sharp Hospice Care (sharp.com/in memory of) or C. Wright Pinson Hospitality House of Nashville, in the name of Joseph Webster.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 4pm-8pm, with a rosary at 7pm, at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery.
