Celebrating the Life of Josephine Thornton Born July 9, 1933 in San Diego, California where she lived until March 29, 2018. She was the 6th of 9 children. Her parents were Luz Tapia and Edubijes Bustos. She worked at the San Diego Zoo and retired after serving over 30 years. She lived in Lemon Grove, California since 1971. She was married to Melvin Thornton (Deceased 1982) on June 17, 1973 in Yuma, Arizona. Her very special friends for over 30 years were Michael and Indaya Van Keith and sons.She attended St. John of the Cross church in Lemon Grove, California. Her very favorite past time was watching International soccer. She was a very avid fan. Her favorite music was Latin and Rumba music. Mrs. Thornton is survived by her daughters Yvonne Ogitani Lewis (Mililani, Hawaii) and Elaine Pyer (Nashville, Tennessee) and one son, James Edward Huston of Nashville, TN, her brothers Ruben and Jesus Tellez, her sisters Carmen Anderson and Irene Dalton, grand daughters Gina Ogitani and Jamie Huston, grandson’s Adam Huston and Jaymie Lewis, great grand daughter CharLee Huston and great grand son Isaac Ogitani. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that a donation to local ASPCA be made in her name.
