Josephine Jewell White's Obituary
Josephine Jewell White, 86, of Chula Vista passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in hospice care at Pacifica House in Carlsbad, California. She was a resident of Chula Vista for the past 34 years and had previously lived in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego since 1952. Josephine was born January 25, 1930 in Buckeye, Arizona on her paternal grandmother’s farm and also lived in Texas, New Mexico and California during her childhood. Jo married U. S. Navy veteran L W White, son of John Nathaniel White and Rhonda Vivian Wooldridge, on June 29, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Josephine graduated from business college and began a 34 year Civil Service career in San Diego achieving the position of Budget Officer at MCRD before retiring in 1986. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred Monroe Jordan and Myrtle Evelyn Goforth (beside whom she will be interred at Greenwood Mausoleum), her three siblings and their spouses, and a grandson. Josephine is survived by her two daughters, Lyndall Mayes and Leslie Gonzalez, both of Chula Vista, CA.; two grandchildren, Jocelyn Gonzalez and Steven Mayes, both of San Diego; and two great-grandsons Noah and Elijah Mayes also of San Diego. Funeral services scheduled for Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Greenwood Memorial Park in the Last Supper room of the Mausoleum. Viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
