Joy Lisa King's Obituary
Joy Lisa King was the youngest child born to Luberta A. Railey and Willie D. Quin on January 27, 1978, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was unexpectedly called to her final resting place on July 16, 2022.
She was raised and received her education in New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating from Warren Easton High School in 1996.
Following her graduation from high school, while working in the travel and hospitality industry in New Orleans, she met her husband, William King, III. They were united in holy matrimony on March 13, 1998, in New Orleans. Her husband was serving in the United States Navy and received orders transferring him to San Diego, California. Joy joined her husband in San Diego in September 1998. Joy supported her husband during his time in the Navy and his during his deployments.
It was during the time her husband was deployed, Joy enrolled in and completed training as a medical assistant. It is important to note that she continued to work in travel and hospitality while attending school. Following completion of medical assistant training, she knew she wanted to work in a closer patient environment. Joy furthered her studies and obtained California licensing as a home health caregiver. Her commitment to her profession was evidenced by the number of letters from her patients and their families; awards received, including Employee of the Month numerous times.
She found fulfillment in helping persons who were sick, caring for and providing aid to those who most needed it. She found joy in helping senior citizens for more than 15 years. She often volunteered to work extra and double shifts caring for patients.
Joy had a special place in her heart for her niece, Victoria Robinson, who lived with her for many years. Joy expressed her love for Victoria and enrolled her in any activity that enhanced Victoria’s talents.
If you knew Joy, you first experienced her smile. One of her greatest joys was praising God, particularly singing with the Praise Team. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to eat, helping friends in need and cooking. She was an excellent cook and, on special occasions, would cook her famous gumbo and jambalaya. Joy loved bargain shopping and was fond of watching the YouTube series, Dollar Tree Hauls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luberta Smith Railey and Willie D. Quin.
Joy is survived by her husband, William H. King III of San Diego, CA, her sister, Belinda Robinson of New Orleans, LA, two nieces, Linda Rivas of Washington, DC, and Victoria Robinson of San Diego, CA. She leaves a host of cousins, other relatives and friends and her Church family at New Life Gospel Center Church in San Diego, CA.
