Joyce Leone Lind's Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Leone Lind peacefully left us to be with The Lord, Our Savior, on March 28. She was born on September 10, 1935, in Whittier, CA to Homer Pearl “Pat” Groom and Augusta “Gussie” Matilda Groom (née Alff).
She and her family moved to Fallbrook, CA in 1950. Joyce enjoyed animals and nature from an early age, and she found her new environment to be exciting. This was an inspiring setting for her artistic leanings, and she sketched and painted often throughout her long and blessed life. After graduating from Fallbrook Union High School in 1953 she got a job at the PX on Camp Pendleton, where she undoubtedly broke the heart of many a young recruit. She married and soon moved to San Diego, and shortly thereafter to La Mesa to start a family. She was an outgoing, effervescent mother who gave much effort to raise and entertain her two children, taking them to countless exciting places and events in the San Diego region. She was forever the busy and enthusiastic gardener as well, and often a complete stranger would knock on the door to praise her abundant and beautiful yard work. As her children entered adolescence she re-entered the workforce. She worked at Montgomery Ward in Grossmont Center in the credit dept., and she thoroughly enjoyed it until they closed in 2000. In her retirement she traveled to the Caribbean, Israel, Hawaii, and with her Alaska Club she made several trips to the frigid 49th State. Joyce loved The Lord, who blessed her with family and many friends who loved her dearly.
She is survived by her son, David LeMond (Marie) of La Mesa, daughter, Mary Stachewicz (Ron) of Sierra Vista, AZ, and sister, Rita Donohue (Jack) of Fallbrook. Also survived by five grandchildren: Kenny LeMond, Liz Olivera, Jon LeMond, Chris LeMond, and Andrew LeMond; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by Harry F. Lind.
