Joyce A. Loyd's Obituary
Obituary of Joyce A Loyd Joyce Anise Loyd was born to Wardell and Joan Herndon on January 10, 1948 at Scripps hospital in La Jolla, California. She attended St. Bridgette Catholic School through the sixth grade, before continuing her education at O’Farrel Junior High School and graduated from Lincoln High Class of 1966. She also attended Mesa collage. In 1965 she met Daniel Loyd through mutual friends. They then got married on July 20, 1968. To this union two daughters were born, Kimberly Danielle and Tamara Nicole, who brought them much happiness through the 35 years of marriage. Joyce began her career with the Public Works Administration, while her family was stationed in Adak, Alaska. Although she was hired to fill a temporary position she demonstrated her strong work ethic and was asked to continue her position. She worked in Personnel and Human Resources, EEO, Affirmative Action, Affirmative Employment and was a part of Government groups such as the Federal Employed Woman’s Group, IMAGE, and youth programs for engineers for over 33 years. She was preparing to announce her retirement for November 3, 2011 at the time of her calling. Joyce was a woman who had a strong and growing relationship with God. She began her introduction to Christ at St Rita’s Church in San Diego, California. Where she and her husband got married and where her children were baptized. She later attended “On the Rise” with Pastor CJ, and Meridian Baptist Church with Pastor Slade in El Cajon. There she was a dedicated morning greeter on the Welcome Committee and Bible Studies. She also took part in the financial planner committee. Joyce supported Redemption Church, in San Diego and became a loved attendee there as well.Joyce is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Todd and Tamara Loyd (who relocated from Los Angeles to San Diego to care for their mother when she became ill);son-in-law, Larry Todd, two grand-children, Lewis and Jasmine Todd of Chandler, Arizona, her mother, Joan Bouton, sister, Janice Herndon of Chula Vista, California and brother, Tony Herndon of San Diego, California.The family would like to take this time to thank her many friends who reached out with words of comfort, visited her in the hospital, and sent cards.
