Juan Perez's Obituary
Juan R. Perez was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 7, 1934 to parents Juan D. Perez of Texas and Carolina Padilla of New Mexico. Juan was the youngest of 8 children and spent his formative years in Boyle Heights where he attended Garfield High School and Roosevelt High School. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. military. He served for 10 years in the Air Force followed by 10 years in the Navy where he retired from active duty as Petty Officer First Class. Following his active duty service, Juan served 20 years in the civil service before permanently retiring.Juan was married for 62 years to Charlotte Ann Perez. They had three children and two grandchildren. During his service in the military the family lived in Delaware, Virginia, and South Carolina before permanently residing in San Diego. While they lived many places, Juan stayed true to his roots and was a devoted Dodgers fan. He was also a big fan of Elvis Presley and Western films, and an admirer of classic cars.Juan passed away on September 23rd, 2019 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his three children; Tina Perez, Juanita (Mark) Liuag, James Perez, his two granddaughters; Stephanie Liuag and Kristie Liuag, his sister Corina Millan, and his faithful dog Yogi.Grateful for what the military had provided to him and his family, Juan strongly supported military and Veteran causes throughout his retirement.
