Judy Gail Fisher's Obituary
Judy Fisher was born in San Diego on July 29, 1944, to parents George “Cecil” and Freda Thomas, and passed gently into the arms of God on May 26, 2023. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She married Walter Fisher, the love of her life, when they were both 19. They were married for almost 59 years and were devoted to one another.
Judy graduated from Kearny High School in 1962. When she was 16 years old, she worked at the Linda Vista Department Store, then later at Convair. After Judy and Walter were married, they moved to Pasadena, where she worked at City Hall and they worshiped with Churches of Christ all over Los Angeles County. When they returned to San Diego in 1971, Judy worked as a homemaker. In the early '80s, Judy opened her Clairemont home as a daycare where she provided loving care to small children and infants, who called her "Ju-ju." In later years she worked at San Diego City Schools and in property management.
Judy and Walter had 3 children, John and twin daughters, Rhonda and Rita. They went from zero to three children in nine months flat!
Judy was a wonderful big sister to her brothers, Ron and Bob, and a loving daughter to her parents, Cecil and Freda. She was a devout follower of Jesus and a beloved sister in the Pepper Drive Church of Christ in El Cajon. She was known for her quiet and gentle spirit and sunny disposition even in the face of health setbacks.
Judy is survived by her husband, Walter, of San Diego; brothers Ronald (and Marie) Thomas of Fort Worth, TX, and Robert “Bob” (and Darla) Thomas of Valley Center, CA; children, John (and Cheri) Fisher and Rita Robinson and Rhonda Fisher of San Diego; grandchildren, Michael, Jordan (and Megan), Terry, and Olivia; and great-grandchildren, Ty, J.T., Elijah, and Maelynn; and nephews Cory, Wayne and Timothy; and nieces, Michelle and Katie; and many other beloved friends and relatives.
To know Judy was to love her, and to be loved by her.
Until we see you again, Judy, “on that bright and cloudless morning."
