Julia Maria Leyva, 61, of Tijuana, Mexico, and raised in San Diego, California, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on February 13th, 2024 from pancreatic cancer.
Julia was a loving wife and mother and is survived by her spouse Sergio Leyva, and her four children Alexis Sanchez, Alexia Gilsdorf, Julie Leyva, and Sergio Leyva, and her two grandchildren Alexei Gilsdorf and Alexa Gilsdorf. Julia was well loved and well lived, she had a zest for life and enjoyed travelling internationally with her husband and children. She had a contagious laugh and had the ability to brighten up a room with her allure. Julia had an invigorating appetite and lived to eat deliciously—memorably, Julia was well known for her tasty Mexican rice and holiday flan. Julia was a homebody who enjoyed relaxing at home and often hosted movie nights for her children and grandchildren. Julia also found enjoyment in exploring different foods alongside her family and friends—her favorite restaurant was Ying Li in San Ysidro.
Julia was a spiritual woman who found her comfort and strength through God and was an active churchgoer, she had a strong conviction of faith that empowered her through her most difficult moments. Julia was part of a large community and family who will continue to cultivate the love she instilled and inspired.
