Julian Ramirez Bernal's Obituary
Julían Ramirez Bernal was born in Tijuana B.C. on February 3rd, 1940, and passed away from natural causes on August 29th, 2024 in Menifee, CA surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 84.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Maria Magdalena Bernal. His four children Julian Jr., Angelica, Yesenia, and Adrian. His grandchildren Kayleigh, Charlene, Sean, Kelsey, Christopher, Cameron, Aaliyah, Eduardo, Selena, and Sofia. His great grandchildren Leon, Brenden, Amelia, and Levi.
Julían was a light of happiness, love, and loyalty throughout his life. He was a loving husband and father who taught his children what it meant to live your life with integrity and work hard. Working in his father’s butcher shop “Carnicería El Rey” in Tijuana, B.C. since the age of 9 years old, Julían opened his own butcher shop called “Carnicería Bernal” in the 1960s. His love of wanting to help people drove him to volunteer and donate meats at various churches and schools in Tijuana. Julian married his wife Maria in 1972 and they both immigrated to the United States shortly after. They became naturalized citizens and began to build their life in the U.S. While in the states Julian once again began his career as a butcher and worked until he retired after 37 years in the UFCW Local 135 working for Gemco, Food Basket, Lucky’s and Albertson’s.
He opened his heart and his home to many people who saw him as a father figure. Julían left a lasting impression on anyone that crossed his path, always approaching life with an infectious personality. At family parties he was always the life of the party and could be found dancing and doing his signature move, balancing a beverage can on his head while he danced.
He loved his family with all his heart and sacrificed so much to make sure that we had a home that was filled with love, family, and friendship. He taught his sons what it meant to be a good man, husband, and father who lived his life with respect and always honored his commitments. And his daughters what it meant to have a hard working, loving, respectful man in their lives.
He battled Parkinson’s disease and a heart condition in his final years of life, but even as the disease progressed, we witnessed glimpses of the Julían we all once knew. He constantly surprised us by wanting to dance at family gatherings even when it was difficult for him to stand and loved to spend his days watching his favorite shows “Bonanza, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and any John Wayne movie”.
The Bernal family would like to thank all the family members and friends who made an effort to be part of Julían’s life and for those who were with him and us in his final years. We are forever grateful to all of you for your love and support. We will all miss Julían, but his spirit and impact will always be with us.
Julían will be laid to rest in eternal glory on Monday September 23rd, 2024 at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, CA at 10:00AM.
