Edney, June's Obituary
June Evelyn Edney passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 29, 2025 in San Diego, California at the age of 97.
Born on July 18, 1927 in Pingree, North Dakota, June spent her early years growing up on farms, where she shared a close bond with her beloved brother, Bud. These formative years instilled in her a resilience and strength that would define her life. During the Great Depression, her family relocated to San Diego in search of new opportunities, where June would ultimately build lasting roots.
June dedicated 35 years of service as a Navy Personnel Officer, rising to the respected rank of GS-11. Her mental toughness and enduring good nature helped her navigate numerous health challenges throughout her life, always with grace and humor.
Family was the heart of June’s world. She devoted herself fully to her loved ones and found immense joy in doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared and the strength she inspired.
June is survived by her daughters, Marianne Bowman (Gordon Louie) and Lauralee Schrag; her grandchildren, Brandon Bowman (Janet Bowman), Lindsey Cabigon (Nino Cabigon), Marissa Gray (Zach Gray), Scott Schrag (Kelsee Schrag), and Danny Schrag (Erynne Luck), and her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Cabigon, Kellan Cabigon, Lilith Bowman, and Odin Bowman.
She lived a beautiful life filled with love and care until the very end. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on May 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Greenwood Memorial Gardens: 4300 Imperial Ave. San Diego, CA 92113.
