Karen Kay Butler's Obituary
Karen Kay Butler was called home to be at eternal rest on November 25, 2023. She was born July 11,
1956, to Eugene and Loretta Butler in Whitewright Texas.
At an early age, Karen, also known as “Kay,” accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized
at Laurel Bible Chapel.
She graduated from Crawford High School. She enrolled in San Diego Mesa College where she graduated
with an Associate degree. Karen worked at San Diego Gas & Electric. She retired after 17 years. After
enjoying retired life, she went to work for Marshalls Department store and retired after 10 years.
Karen loved sports. In 1976 she joined the San Diego Lobos Women’s Professional Football team. She
played the position of defensive back for many years. They won several league championships. Karen
loved to go on cruises, which was her happy place.
Karen loved her family dearly and is survived by her sister Gloria Butler, her nephew, Anthony Butler (his
wife, Jessica), nieces Jazzmine Parie, Temonie Butler, great nephews, Jaron Kendrick, Ezra Butler, great
nieces Shiloh Butler, Micah Butler and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Eugene and Loretta Butler and sister Dorothea Butler.
Karen was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
