Celebrating the life of Kathleen KrauseBorn on January 15 1924 in Manchester England. Where she lived until 1949. She was the 3rd of seven children. Her parents were Richard and Kathleen O’Brien.She attended the following schools: The Hollies Convent School and Mt. Pleasant Teachers College in Liverpool England from 1942-44.She earned an elementary teaching diploma after attending college. After graduation she began a career as a third grade teacher in a catholic school. She resigned from this career in 1953 after 4 years. After resigning Kathleen raised her three childrenShe lived in Detroit Michigan, Seattle Washington, and San Diego California after emigrating to the United States in 1949.She was married to Robert Krause on December 26, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan.Special friends over her lifetime were many Clairmont neighbors and St. Mary Magdelene parish in San Diego where she lived for 57 years. She was involved in many parish activities over the years as a lector and church cleaner, as well as Working at St. Vincent de Paul and Catholic Charities feeding the hungry. She also for a time read for the blind at KPBS at San Diego State.Kathleen’s Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She and her husband were founding members of St. Mary Magdelene parish and later in life attended mass daily. Kathleen never wavered in her belief that God was in charge and trusted Him implicitly.Words that would describe Kathleen come easily. She was a faithful, happy and cheerful spirit at heart. Always ready with a smile and a story to share. She always accepted life’s struggles with a classic British stiff upper lip. She was as extremely proud of her Irish lineage.The most important events in her life were beginning a new life in America after World War II and the birth of her eight grandchildren.Kathleen’s favorite pastimes were writing letters, travel, walking, reading, socializing with others and chatting with her grandchildren.Her favorite music was classical piano and one of her favorite songs was “Ave Maria”.Kathleen is survived by her sister Rose Clarke, son Tom (Fong), daughter Anne (Mike), and grandchildren Kyle, Christina, Conner, Cheryl, Shaina, Taylor, Thomas, Tanner and numerous nephews, nieces and grand nephews and nieces. Kathleen is predeceased by her son Paul and husband Bob.
