Kenneth E. Roberts' Obituary
It is with great sadness that our Sharp Grossmont family has lost one of our own. With a very heavy heart we must announce that one of our dearest employees, Robbie Roberts has passed away. Robbie’s tenure at the hospital is well known (legendary). The legacy he leaves behind of his gentle nature, kindness, willingness to help anyone and everyone will never be forgotten. He had hugs and love for everyone; his uplifting, unsinkable positive attitude was more powerful and infectious than even he every really knew. Robbie was one of those rare individuals with nerves of steel and a heart of pure gold; we are all so fortunate to have had him touch our live. He loved his job, cared so very deeply about this hospital and all who entered here.
After completing a career of 20 years with the Navy, Robbie retired as a warrant Officer. He made Grossmont Hospital his work home in 1977 and he never left. Robbie was a loyal, hard-working, honest, ethical, principled employee who devoted his life to making things better during his 43 years here. Everyone knew if there was a problem, something that needed adjustment or to be fixed (particularly if nobody else could do anything about it), just “bring it to Robbie, because he can do anything”! His incredible intelligence, his creative nature and his natural skill level will never be matched. His love for Sharp Grossmont, the hospital, the family of co-workers and all the departments were very near and dear to his heart.
Robbie has touched every part of this hospital; he knew every corner and every detail and has left an indelible mark that will never be erase. He embraced growth and change; assisted every department, contractor, architect, FMD and project, and supported all at every opportunity to make things better for the patients, visitors, and staff.
Robbie leaves behind his devoted wife Donna of 57 years, son Glenn; son Jason; loving daughter-in-law Kristen, and two very special granddaughter, Delaney, and Kendall. They all meant the world to him and him to them. Their loss of Robbie is enormous, and we lift them up in our thoughts and prayers. It goes without saying, the SGH Engineering Department has lost an irreplaceable champion and an incredibly special human being of the highest caliber.
In the near future, when it is appropriate and can be safely coordinated, we will be working on a Celebration of Life of Robbie Roberts.
Memorial donations can be made to ccakids.org in memory of Kenneth E. Roberts "Robbie".
