Kenneth Melvin Washington's Obituary
Celebrating the life of Kenneth Washington Kenneth Melvin Washington born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Robert and Shirley Washington on December 17, 1941. He left this earth to his new home with the Lord on June 17th, 2018 He was a graduate of J.P. McKaskey high school in Lancaster, PA. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army serving some time abroad in Germany. Upon an honorable discharge from the army he worked for Burrough’s Corp. in Pasadena, CA and later in his career here in San Diego, California for Naval Ocean Systems Center and SPAWAR Systems Center as a Civilian Technical Specialist in Tactical Systems for the US NAVY. He was deeply devoted and involved with his church, Prospect Ave Baptist Church in Santee, California. He taught Sunday school there for many years, educating the youth of the church. He is preceded in death by is parents, sister: Brenda Washington, and brothers: Robert Washington Jr. and Barry Washington. Kenneth is survived by wife Omega, children: Kim and husband Derek, Gina and Robin. Grandsons: Mason, Trent and Dachelle and a host of friends, neighbors, extended and church family that loved him. Services will be held at Prospect Ave. Baptist church in Santee, California. on Thursday, June 28th 2018 at 11:30 am. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his name to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project San Diego.
