Kevin Cortez Guzman's Obituary
Kevin Cortez Guzman was 26 years old when he decided to leave the wheelchair life forever and go on an eternal vacation. He was born in San Diego and loved living in the area. Speaking of love, Kevin was someone that radiated love and attracted people with his kind and peaceful energy. Kevin also had a dark sense of humor and a way of saying things that hey, at least he is telling you the truth! His siblings or mom would always say, Kevin that's not nice! Or they would just close their eyes as Kevin went on with that honesty that characterized him. Honestly, we all loved him for that! Speaking of his dark humor, when asked what he wanted for his funeral arrangements he proudly said, I'm going on vacation, cremate me and spread my ashes so I can travel the world. In the end, even though he could not control his disability he did control how he wished to spend his days and to leave this world. Kevin spent days watching movies (he had a list of movies he needed to watch) listening to music, trying different snacks and just living day by day. Since most of his time was spent watching videos on youtube about movies or food, he would always have requests about different snacks to stay on trend. Even if he couldn't go out, that was not gonna stop him from trying new things! His requests, although different, were always met with love and a smile. For example, he would request vanilla dr pepper, chocolate yohoo, pumpkin spice latte (or other seasonal starbucks drinks) or other snacks from around the world. He also loved to play video games and when he couldn't play anymore due to his muscle weakness, he enjoyed watching others play online. That way he didn't have to get headaches on how to solve puzzles or die at the boss fights. Lastly, Kevin wanted people to be happy during his celebration of life. That, like mentioned above, he is no longer bound to his wheelchair. He is out traveling the world, feeling the breeze and enjoying all the snacks and food. Thank you so much for being here, celebrating Kevin. Kevin is survived by his loving parents Rafael Cortez and Guillermina Guzman as well as by siblings Allen, Daisy and Denise Cortez.
